这是一个魔女与人类共存的世界，为保证魔女身份不被揭穿，被人类发现真实身份的魔女会变成魔女青蛙，唯有另一个拥有正式身份的魔女才能解开魔法。一次偶然中，一直梦想能够成为魔女的Doremi识破了魔女莉卡的身份，无奈之下，莉卡将春风收为见习魔女。春风须经历漫长而艰苦的修炼，通过魔女考试才能获得魔女资格。故事舞台发生在架空的城市──日本美空市美空町，除此之外还有魔女世界和魔法堂等。顺带一提，虽然香港和台湾的小魔女DoReMi相关产品（漫画、精品等）仍然遵照下述译名，但动画部分，无线电视播放的版本一律称为《小魔女DoReMi》，并不作任何区分，东森幼幼台方面则是以第几部来区分。

The story of three children in Sattahip of different backgrounds that became friends; Puchong, a Thai boy, Jimmy, a Korean-American boy and Muay, a Chinese girl. One day while exploring, they impulsively take a hearse going to Bangkok. There, they fall in the hands of various different adults, and learn the sad truth of the adult world.

The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan (Jayaram), Chandu (Mukesh) and Joy (Sreenivasan). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandu resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Uma (Divya Unni). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini (Meena), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandu stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

A man values his best friend more than anything else in the world. One day he confesses a dark secret from their childhood to his wife, which is overheard by another. Once the secret gets out, the friendship is destroyed.

In the first coproduction of a TV drama between Japan and South Korea, a Japanese tourist and a South Korean film student become good friends after a chance meeting in Hong Kong.
